Please introduce yourself in one sentence:
I’m Jana, a mixed media collage artist trying to spread joy to others through my art and encouragement.
What’s been keeping you up at night?
Concerns over our youngest child who has been very ill for several years.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
I would LOVE to meet all of my art friends that I’ve made through Instagram.
What are you working on right now?
Art challenges, collages to send in Happy Mail, and an inspirational book of my work.
What are some of the shoulds you are trying to shed?
Perfectionism in my art, my home and life in general.
What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?
Visiting all of my favourite thrift stores.
What was the last thing you read?
Art magazines – Uppercase, In Her Studio, Where Women Create
Have your ever disliked something and then changed your mind?
I thought I wouldn’t like gelli printing, but I love it!
How do you take your coffee?
I don’t drink coffee.
What is your definition of success?
Providing some kind of positive impact on the world, your community, or others.
What are you most proud of in the last year?
That I have provided inspiration and support for other artists on IG.
What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done, and why did you do it?
After a very difficult delivery of my first child, I decided to get pregnant with my second even though I was terrified to go through labor again.
What’s on top of your bucket list?
See all of my 4 kids find adult happiness and love.
How would your friends describe you?
Sweet, creative, kind, shy
If you could time travel, when and where would you go?
I’d be an adult in the 70s – I think I’d have made a great hippie.
What really makes you angry?
Injustice to others
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
Unlimited energy
Do you hit the snooze button or wake up immediately?
Definitely snooze!
Which fictional character do you relate to most?
A combination of Charlotte from Sex and the City and Monica from Friends.
Which of your personality traits are you most proud of?
Kind, generous, creative, a good friend, loyal
What is one thing you will never do again?
Move!
Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
More introverted than extroverted, but not a complete introvert.
What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten?
Nothing because I am extremely picky!
Is your glass half full or half empty?
Sometimes both, but it is always refillable!
