Please introduce yourself in one sentence:
I live for creative expression, finding my truth, and supporting my loved ones.
What’s been keeping you up at night?
Creative juices flowing through my brain.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
I would like to meet all the collagists that I have connected with over Instagram for a country retreat to make art, chill, get existential, party and let loose. I think we all need it!
What are you working on right now?
My blog /DRI:M/SPACE and creating analogue collages.
What are some of the shoulds you are trying to shed?
I should just buckle down and deal. I should sacrifice now for the future.
What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?
If I was anywhere but Saudi Arabia then relaxing in nature after a long hike with a picnic and wine, or if it's chilly, cognac. Then off to the club to dance until dawn!
What was the last thing you read?
Ian McEwan “Machines Like Me” and Shirley Jackson “We Have Always Lived in the Castle”
Have your ever disliked something and then changed your mind?
Eating Greek yogurt with granola on top—now it’s a staple of mine.
How do you take your coffee?
My go-to is green tea or herbal ginger but when I drink the occasional coffee, I’m a purist—I like it black.
What is your definition of success?
Giving back to the community & supporting others by doing what I love.
What are you most proud of in the last year?
I created a ton of art and launched /DRI:M/SPACE. And, I didn’t lose my shit!
What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done, and why did you do it?
Performing my music for a live audience—I couldn’t get out of doing it.
What’s on top of your bucket list?
Finding a place I can call home and actually feeling like it is the one.
How would your friends describe you?
Cool, quirky, creative, thoughtful but sometimes a bit over the top and inappropriate. Yeh, maybe, a little too open, at times.
If you could time travel, when and where would you go?
Back to the moment when I let an experience break me—I want a redo.
What really makes you angry?
Golden handcuffs.
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
Toss up. Conjuring (my heart's desire) and teleportation.
Do you hit the snooze button or wake up immediately?
The predawn call to prayer, Fajar, unfortunately wakes me up daily.
Which fictional character do you relate to most?
So hard—I’m drawing a total blank for this one. But the one character that popped into my head is Sophia, from the movie, “Dark Song”. I tend to lose myself watching movies so I feel the characters very deeply. Anyhoo, it’s an intense movie and in the end, she makes an unexpected choice.
Which of your personality traits are you most proud of?
Empath!
What is one thing you will never do again?
Ride the public transportation in Sri Lanka.
If you could join any past or current band, which would you want to join?
Minuet Machine. I want to join Hélène and Amandine—embody their dark, disrupted, emotional electronica.
Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
I definitely possess the traits of both so I would say I’m an ambivert all the way.
What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten?
So underwhelming that I can’t even remember what I ate. Touted as food that “takes diners on a wonderful voyage of discovery”—the experience emptied my bank account. Thank god for the wine pairings!
Is your glass half full or half empty?
Depends on my mood, but more often than not half full.
