ARTIST STATEMENT
My story-filled, quilt-like collages are tangible, tactile, and analog–all made from found paper and canvases. My only expense is the glue that binds them. I create from a box of found images from old magazines and junk mail that I have collected and curated for the last fifteen years, the ephemeral artifacts of my lifetime. Most recently, I have been incorporating recently uncovered photographs, diaries, and administrative documents of my ancestors. My collages wrestle with, and at the same time, preserve my ancestors' humanity, while constructing the world I want to see emerge from reckoning with settler colonialism.
