ARTIST STATEMENT

I love being surrounded by old paper, vintage maps, and magazines. I'm completely addicted to typography and fascinated by everything about the 1950s—the design, fashion, music, and styles. Needless to say, I’m the biggest *Mad Men* fan. Admittedly, saying this as a feminist might sound odd, given the questionable roles women held during that era.

I mostly work with cutouts from vintage magazines and advertisements from the 1950s and 1960s. What began as a fun experiment has gradually evolved into a deeper contemplation about women's lives in Western society. Looking at magazines from those decades, especially the advertisements, it seems to me that there was one main goal: to tame women's desires and shape them into the perfect consumer.

Through my collages, I strive more and more to highlight these themes, though I know there’s still much further to go.

ARTIST BIO

I was born in 1974 in Göttingen, Germany, where I still live. I hold a degree in Communication Design and specialize in book and editorial design. Since 2012, I’ve been creating collages, and the deeper I immerse myself in the process, the more I aspire to become a “serious” artist with this technique, creating works that hold meaning and relevance.

All of my works are posted on Instagram and my website.
