ARTIST BIO
My artwork strives to invite one and all to consider what their individual personal perspectives may be, and to contemplate how these may connect to broader social and cultural contexts. I am particularly interested in communicating within the zones lying between facts and fictions. Thus, I am often drawn to creating pieces that comment upon uneasy current events, often with a humorous subplot. Beyond the Subjective, what is Knowledge or Understanding? What Universal Principles do we hold dear?
ARTIST STATEMENT
Childhood abandonment contributed to hyper vigilance, facilitating intently observing the surrounding world. Schooling with zero art classes, bypassed constrictions of art education; creating montages was a means of survival for the soul. First work was a 1982 double L.P. sleeve. In 2020, “My Nine lives As A Dog” was in a Toronto Exhibition. The curator’s flawed catalogue description served to inspire me to focus upon also incorporating text, to describe and enhance meanings. I continue to mull over how overt or subtle art should be in the spectrum of messaging.
My art is a gift, without wish for financial transactions (400 collage items exchanged with other artists in past three years). I am especially pleased that my ‘collage-sculptures’ and sound and vision 4-D montage art has found dialogue in cinemas, a hospital, a town hall, outdoor and indoor public gallery spaces across 3 continents.I believe we are all creative, in worlds we inhabit. I hope you may be inspired to be creative in the difference you make In your worlds.
