Sheena Mathieson is an Australian visual artist and community arts facilitator, whose varied practice is united by a respect for difference and a distinctive play of colour, form and texture.
She has a particular interest in experimental printmaking, in combination with other media such as collage and paint.
Sheena is interested in the notions of sustainability and place; making evocative art from recycled and found materials, combined with quality media. There is something of the scientist in how Sheena works, as she discovers the discarded around her, then breathes new life into these findings through mark making, colour and the development of tangential techniques. Sheena enjoys the unexpected – challenging the medium, and producing works which are joyous, spirited and colourful, in every way.
